| Lanolin is the oily material that protects sheep’s wool by forming a protective barrier against moisture and cold temperatures. When harvested from shorn sheep’s wool, it is processed and purified without chemicals to produce an emollient used in many hair and skin care products. While most moisturizers are heavily oil-based and sit on the skin’s surface to provide a smooth feeling, lanolin is readily absorbed into the skin layers, where it restores the protective lipid barrier holding the skin’s natural moisture in to hydrate the skin. Medical-grade lanolin, when combined with other ingredients, plays an integral role in skin care by allowing ingredients in subsequent products to penetrate the skin deeper. |
